EC Power partners with Penn State-led team on $3 million Department of Energy Grant

EC Power, as part of a team led by Pennsylvania State University, has been awarded a two-year $3 million grant by the Department of Energy (DOE) to develop next-generation Li-ion batteries for vehicle electrification. The goal of the project is to develop a safer high-performance battery with a greater energy and power density and longer lifespan than the current state-of-the-art. As the only industrial partner in the team, EC Power will utilize its proprietary software to design the high energy density battery cells and fabricate the 2.5Ah pouch cells in a well-equipped battery manufacturing laboratory with cathode, anode and electrolyte developed by each team member.
