EC Power maintains a state-of-the-art laboratory and prototyping facility at its headquarters in State College, and also enjoys a close working relationship with the Penn State Electrochemical Engine Center (ECEC), Energy Nanostructure Lab (e-nano), and the Battery and Energy Storage Technology (BEST) Center. In-house simulation work
In certain cases, it may be most efficient to outsource your simulation work to our expert software engineers who have access to a 108-CPU computer cluster that is specifically designed for high volume, calculation intensive simulation jobs.
We fabricate prototype cells ranging from coins and 18650 cells all the way up to 35 Ah pouch and 50 Ah prismatic Li-ion cells for clients who are interested in commercializing their proprietary technologies.
Heavy-duty testing and materials characterization
EC Power can provide testing services for very high power systems (up to 1000A and 750V), all the way to small scale material characterization at the coin cell level. Our materials scientists are expert in executing state-of-the-art diagnostics such as EIS, GITT, and CV tests, as well as in developing customer-specific diagnostics tools. Whether it is initial testing of prototypes that have just been fabricated at EC Power, or prototype cells delivered to us by one of our clients, we flexibly meet our clients' needs in whatever capacity is needed.
One way we frequently serve our clients is to act as an independent third party for testing several candidate technologies for full-scale adoption. We test the batteries or fuel cells supplied by our clients under conditions and drive profiles specified by the client, and deliver a comprehensive report on our findings.
